Karrinyup Primary School staff use a variety of platforms to communicate with parents and students. Parents are encouraged to have ongoing dialogue and relationship with their classroom teachers, discuss any concerns with teachers as the first port of call. While formalised progress reports are issued twice per year, regular feedback is encouraged and expected for all students.

Phone:
If your child is injured, sick or needs urgent attention, the school will ring the nominated emergency contacts on the enrolment system. We will not contact those not listed in the system.  We cannot put calls through to classrooms during teaching time.

Due to the large number of students, we strongly discourage parents phoning the school to deliver messages about after school activities to students.

Email:
Staff email addresses can be found on the school website under ‘The KPS Team’. The generic school email address is karrinyup.ps.admin@education.wa.edu.au

Staff do not access emails during teaching time, therefore there may be a delay in responding. If you wish to make an appointment with your teacher or notify them of an absence, appointment or personal arrangements, email is the best method. Please note, all staff have leave during school holidays and will not respond to emails.

Compass (app and web based):
This is used as our primary communication method. Teachers can communicate directly with their class, across a year level, the whole school or individual students and parents. Admin and the leadership team use Compass to communicate school wide notices, reminders and Principal updates.  Parents can give consent and pay for events and excursions, as well as providing permissions for digital and classroom activities. Teachers can upload photos and videos for their class and parents to view. Parents can report absences via the app, view their child’s timetable and track attendance.

Seesaw (app and web based):
Primarily used in Kindy – Year 2, this platform is for teachers to provide parents with a window into their classroom. Teachers can upload photos, videos and notices. Parents can comment and message teachers directly.

QuickCliq (web based - https://www.quickcliq.com.au/):
Used for order Uniforms (KPS P&C) and lunch orders (Canteen Kings).

KPS Website (www.karrinyupps.wa.edu.au):
This is updated regularly to reflect changes in staffing, term planners, events and other important things.

Facebook & Whatsapp:
The KPS P&C maintain their own Facebook page and we encourage parents to join. Here you will find information on P&C Fundraising events, uniform shop information, call out for volunteers, sporting club and other school community information. Some year group parents set up their own FB or Whatsapp groups for communication between parents. This is outside the school control and parents opt in as desired.
